Smelling bad isn't something anyone wants when we go to work, the gym, etc. To prevent the stink, most people wear deodorant as a part of their hygiene routine. Many deodorants on the market are also antiperspirants, which prevent you from sweating as well. However, the only ingredient known to prevent sweating is aluminum. Aluminum works by plugging up your sweat glands to prevent sweating from occurring. There have been many anecdotes as to whether or not aluminum can cause breast cancer and/or Alzheimer's, but there has not been enough studies to show significance to these claims. But some people want to mitigate any and all risk associated with aluminum, or not clog up their sweat pores, and that's okay, too. I like to be able to read what I'm putting in and on my body, so typically the natural deodorants fit that description. I'm here to give you my personal recommendations to the best natural deodorants on the market, for men and women, so you can make an informed decision if you decide you want to invest in these products!

Another side note to switching to natural deodorants is that one can benefit from doing an 'armpit detox' beforehand. This will help prevent some of the odor-causing bacteria from growing, as your body will have to adjust to the different ingredients being used; switching can cause more or different types of bacteria to grow. Detoxes can include ingredients like bentonite clay, apple cider vinegar, and charcoal. You make a paste-like mixture and put it on your armpits, let it sit for 15 minutes or until it dries, and then wash it off in the shower or with a washcloth. This will NOT detox the aluminum out of your system, but it can help mitigate the transition to natural deodorants.
